About Us
“MAGIC FOR MUGGLES” Summer Camp – taught by experienced Glenfield School Teachers Kevin McCarthy and Adam Scribner – is back for year six!
Our program will once again make the magic of Hogwarts School come alive for youngsters – whether they’ve read all the books or have just seen a single movie. It’s our hope and belief that children will be inspired to read about the adventures of Harry, for the first time or for repeated enjoyment. (Our camp is geared for boys and girls of ages 8-13, but we’ve had no problem integrating slightly younger or older. There are always exceptions!)
We intend to continue with several of our tried and true activities that are children favorites – playing quidditch, wand making, HP Jeopardy, dueling, creating magical creatures, making House banners, plus introduce many new activities. Experienced animal handlers and spell binding magicians add to the long list of fun and exciting daily activities. From the moment our “Hogwarts” students are “sorted” into houses, the magic begins!
We are excited to start our third year at St. John’s Episcopal Church’s Parish Hall at 55 Montclair Avenue – two blocks away from Woodman Field. This spacious, gothic looking facility provides a real “Hogwarts” feel to our program and give us all the room we need.
Our camp will be offered for 4 sessions in late June and early July. They are as follows:
Week one: June 27th to July 1st Full
Week two: July 5th to July 8th (this will be a four day week, costs will be reduced) Full
Week three: July 11th to July 15th Full
Week four: July 18th to July 22nd Full
The camp starts and activities begin daily at 9am and do not stop until 1pm. The cost per week is $220. Week two, due to the July 4th Holiday, will be $175. Due to demand, early registration is advised.
If you register a camper for multiple weeks, we provide a 10% discount. This discount will also be provided to families registering siblings. Please note, this discount is only extended to siblings, not cousins and friends (In other words, the Weasleys would get a discount, but Hermoine and Harry would not).
Let us assure you that your child’s safety is our paramount concern. No child is ever left unattended – from the time they’re dropped off until they’re picked up, there will be adult supervision. We are certified in safety training by the American Red Cross. This program is also fully insured.
If you’d like an application or have any questions about signing your student up for 2011, please e-mail Prof. McCarthy on the Register page. If you know of anybody else who might be interested, please pass this website along.
