About Us

“MAGIC FOR MUGGLES” Summer Day Camp, created and directed by experienced educators Kevin McCarthy, Ed.M., and Adam Scribner, Ed.D., is back for year nineteen!

Our program will once again make the magic of Hogwarts School come alive for youngsters – whether they have read all the books or have seen a single movie. It’s our hope and belief that children will be inspired to read about the adventures of Harry Potter, for the first time or for repeated enjoyment. Our camp is geared for girls and boys, ages 7-12, but we have had no problem integrating slightly younger or older campers. There are always exceptions. (Please see the FAQ’s for more information on student ages.)

This year, we intend to continue with several of our tried and true activities that are children favorites – playing quidditch, wand making, Harry Potter Jeopardy (we always encourage reading), dueling, learning about magical creatures, making house banners – plus there are always surprises! Experienced animal handlers and spell-binding magicians add to the long list of fun and exciting daily activities. From the moment our Hogwarts students are sorted into houses, the magic begins!

Magic for Muggles takes place at St. John’s Episcopal Church’s Parish Hall, 55 Montclair Avenue – a block away from Woodman Field. This spacious, Gothic-looking facility provides a real Hogwarts feel to our program and gives us all the room we need.

Please know that in 2023, we will once again be following the recommended CDC Covid-19 guidelines for summer camps including spacing students apart and continuous cleaning. Also, the building we use is air conditioned and has a MERV 13-ventilation system intended to filter the air to remove Covid-19 particles.

Magic for Muggles will be offering five sessions in summer 2023.  They are:

Session one: June 26th-30th

 Session two: July 10th-14th

Session three: July 17th-21st

 Session four: July 24th-28th

Session five: July 31st-August 4th

All sessions run from 9am – 1pm.

The camp starts and activities begin daily at 9AM and do not stop until 1PM.  The cost per week is $335. Due to demand, early registration is advised. All previous sessions have sold out.

Refund policy: refunds are only provided for cancellations when the space can be filled by another camper. Please provide a minimum of two-weeks notice.

Let us assure you that your child’s safety is our paramount concern. No child is ever left unattended – from the time they’re dropped off until they’re picked up, there is adult supervision. This program is fully insured.
